Work Christmas party!

It’s the time of year again when we all descend on the yearly christmas party.  While some of us love this event others positively loathe it and knowing how to please everyone is a tough task for any event planner!

We at Moments believe that a great work Christmas party should try and move away from the traditional sit down dinner with long speeches and secret santas. Instead it should be something dynamic, fun and more importantly get people from all departments mingling. It’s not only a great way to say thank you to staff but also a fantastic opportunity  to get to know that person you speak to on the phone everyday from another department but have never met in person!

Here are some tips to make your Christmas party a huge success:

Send out invitations to everyone. Email is fine but paper even better! This shows that thought has been put into the event. Also, you could think of creating a theme to get people in the mood and inspire your decorations and music for the night. A great theme that means that no one has to buy any particular outfit as will find something in their wardrobe is a decades theme.

The Ice-Breaker

Activities like a “murder mystery” or a “room escape” is great way to get people to get to know each other and to relax and get into the party spirit! You could all go to a room escape venue pre party or organise your event around a murder mystery that needs to be solved.

Fancy dress competitions are fantastic ways to get departments to work together and really get people to relax and have fun! We recommend that you choose external parties such as restaurant staff/hotel management to undertake the scoring as sometimes if its people within the workplace it can conjure up cries of Fix!!

The sit down dinner is great for some events but at a work party it can end up being a bit staid and boring. A cocktail is a great way for people to mingle and network and to escape that boring conversation with a colleague without sounding rude!
